30 Day Reset Challenge – Wrap Up

The 30 day reset challenge is done! And, I must say, that it turned out a little differently than I imagined.

I followed most of my guidelines, but made a few tweaks. Exercise became a goal of working out 150 minutes per week. I also continued having chips with Chipotle. The goal was to reset, to feel more disciplined, and I did. But it was a different kind of disciplined.

I thought discipline meant cutting out certain types of foods and not ordering in. While that certainly does take discipline, I realized that cutting things out completely isn’t the only indication of discipline. Discipline is exercising 150 minutes per week. It’s going to work when you would rather stay home. Discipline is self-care. Turns out I have plenty of it.

I ended up reading more, and I was surprised to learn that I am way more attached to my smart phone than I realized. This realization began after a conversation with a friend. Someone unfollowed me on Instagram and I was more bothered by it than I felt I should be. My friend recommended a book called How to Break Up with Your Phone. I read it and learned so much about how my phone was negatively impacting my mood, ability to focus and life.

What I liked most about the book is that it helped me define my phone’s purpose in my life by working through a set of steps. I ended up decluttering my phone with apps and setting more boundaries as to when I can check email and social media. For example, I am no longer going to post stories or content during a live event. Instead, I will take a couple photos or videos, save them on my phone and post them later. This way, I am actively participating in real life instead of viewing it through my phone.

Overall, I was glad to have taken on this challenge and fully re-set. And I plan to continue implementing these habits, including meal prep, which I am off to do now.
